Transitioning from high school to college is an important milestone in a young person’s life. It is also a stressful time where important decisions like how much a student will take out in student loans, what college campus feels right to them, and what career path will lead them to their idea of success, are decided upon.
Alfonso was one of the students making those decisions to not only better his life, but that of his family. He says, “I would have never gotten the opportunity of being a college graduate if my family hadn’t worked as hard as they did in factories to provide for me. They are the reason I’m here right now and I’m very grateful for that. It’s a debt that can never be repaid!”
There are so many low-income, first-generation college graduates, who feel the same way—”it’s a debt that can never be repaid”, but they all do try.
