Bank of America honored College Visions as a Neighborhood Builder. Only one organization is selected annually in Rhode Island, and the exclusive honor provides a $200,000 unrestricted grant. “College Visions is helping to strengthen Rhode Island’s future, one student at a time,” said Bill Hatfield, Rhode Island president, Bank of America. “This investment will expand their life-changing programming for an even greater impact.”
Citizens Bank selected College Visions as one of two Rhode Island Champions In Action for the year. The honor included coverage by NBC10 and a $35,000 unrestricted grant. “Citizens Bank and NBC 10 are proud to recognize College Visions and its work empowering Rhode Island youth to pursue higher education,” said Barbara Cottam, RI Market Executive, Citizens Bank. “Since 2004, nearly 200 young adults have enrolled in college and graduated as a result of the tools and resources provided by College Visions. Many of these students never envisioned college as an option. College Visions sets youth on the right path and continues to support them throughout their college career in order to ensure their success.”
Thanks to our generous community partner Southwest Airlines, College Visions students are able to use Southwest vouchers to visit colleges and and to travel to campus if they enroll at an out of state college. Southwest is helping first-generation students like Angela (Denison University '20) earn college degrees: “When My advisor Raul from College Visions, told me the news that I was getting a free ticket to go to Denison. I was so excited because Southwest was helping my parents and I save a lot of money that we did not have. I am extremely grateful for their generosity. I am very glad that Southwest is helping a lot of first generation college students like me, get to college where they will initiate their college experience and begin their journey of life. Thank you Southwest, I will forever be grateful.”
