Tatiana is currently a senior at Classical High School. She joined CV in the summer of 2017 with the drive and determination it takes to pursue higher education. Because of your support, Tatiana has applied to schools like Clark University, Syracuse University, Dickinson College, Providence College and more. Read her interview below!
Where are you from, what high school do you attend, and what do you like to do in your free time?
I am from Providence, Rhode Island and I attend Classical High School. I like to code websites, listen to music, watch shows, record videos and play video games in my free time.
What colleges have you applied to? Do you have an intended major and why did you choose it?
I have applied to URI, RIC, Boston University, Syracuse University, Hampshire College, Dickinson College, Clark University, Holy Cross, and Providence College and would like to major in Computer Science. I chose it because I am very interested in the technology that we use everyday. We can do some much to help with technology and programs and I want to be part of that. I also find coding to be very fun, less like a job and more about just being creative and working together.
Describe your favorite CV memory so far?
Favorite memory from CV is the orientations we went to in the summer. I got to meet a lot of people and make friends as well as meet the advisors.
What are some goals you are working towards and how is CV helping you achieve them?
I am working towards getting into a university that has as good computer science program as well as trying to get a scholarship from google. CV advisors have helped me through workshops and I was able to send my advisor drafts of my scholarship essay to receive great feedback. They also helped me find schools that have pretty good computer science programs.
What has the financial aid process been like for you and what is one thing you’ve learned?
The process has been long and hard but I could not imagine what kids my age are going through without the help that I am getting at CV. I have learned that everything must be accurate when answering the financial aid questions.
What would you say to donors who are consistently giving to CV and making this resource available to you?
I would like to say thank you to all the donors and other people that are able to help CV keep going because without College Visions and being a first generation college student I would have had no guidance going through the application process.
Tatiana and many other students are on their way to earning their college degrees! And, with your continued support, she will be amongst the 65% of CV college grads who earn their college degree within 6 years of enrollment! Thank you for your continued support!
