Meet CV Student: Sheila Bautista

Many first-generation students don’t have access to the essential college resources that are vital to their success and contribute to the acquisition of their college degree. With College Visions, low-income and first-gen students are able to go on college campus visits, learn how to write a resume, cover letter, and college essay, build a strong relationship with their advisor and more.

First-generation student, Sheila Bautista, attends the University of Rhode Island where she is currently studying political science and because of you and CV support she was able to secure an internship at Senator Jack Reed’s Office, giving her experience in her field!

Students on the move with Markeem Vee Rodrigues

“The conference was a great opportunity for me to enhance my knowledge on the stories and perspectives of black people and people of color. As well as network with people who have the same interests as me and can help me in the future.” – Markeem R., E-Cubed ’19

Markeem is a senior at E-Cubed Academy who’s interests lie in areas like Computer Science, African-American Studies, Political Science and Film/Photography! Recently, with support of his College Visions advisor, he was able to volunteer at The Data for Black Lives conference held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology! First Generation College Graduate: Marc Torres

With the support of CV staff and donors, Marc graduated from the University of Rhode Island with his bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Here is what he had to say to you:

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to CV donors. Without CV support, I would not be in the position that I currently am. The generosity of CV donors allowed me to make use of all the resources that were available to me throughout high school and college, so I thank you all!”

Marc takes pride in being a first-generation college graduate and we are honored to have been able to witness his journey.

“Being a first generation college graduate means the world to me. To be able to graduate college and make my family proud is my greatest achievement in my life thus far.”

Meet Graduating CSP Student: William Feng

William is a graduate from Boston University where he majored in finance. William, and his CV class’, college process and journey wasn’t easy, but they have accomplished something that not all first-generation students have the opportunity to do–attain a college degree.
