ABOUT LAMONT

Lamont was born and raised in Washington, D.C. With the support of a local community based program, he received a full scholarship to a boarding high school in Massachusetts, later graduating from Brown University and the Harvard Graduate School of Education. A first gen college graduate and a strong believer in the transformative power of education, Lamont has dedicated his career to creating pathways to college for students from underserved communities. Before joining College Visions, he served in leadership roles at college access organizations in Providence, Boston, and New York City. In his spare time, Lamont enjoys biking, reading, and traveling. A former DJ at WBRU, he is an R&B aficionado and loves live music.

Emily Darrow

ABOUT EMILY

A Connecticut native, Emily is an experienced organizational leader with extensive background in K-12 education and strategic planning. She holds a BA in International Studies from Colby College and a Masters in School Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania.

Beginning her career as a Teach for America corps member in New Orleans, she dedicated the next 14 years to creating excellent schools for low-income communities. As Founding Chief of Staff at Alma del Mar Charter School in New Bedford, MA, she has spent the past five years overseeing strategic planning, team leadership, finance, operations, development, communications, talent management, and family engagement. Previously, she served as an Assistant Principal at both Alma del Mar and KIPP New Orleans, with a focus on special education in charter schools.

After relocating from New Orleans to Rhode Island in 2016 with her husband, she has established deep roots in the community. She is the mother of a four-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son, and currently serves as a Fellow with the Women’s Policy Institute, run by the Women’s Fund of Rhode Island, as well as a Board Member for the Junior League of Rhode Island. In her leisure time, she enjoys bicycling, tennis, gardening, and loves all things arts and crafts.

ABOUT FERNANDO

Fernando is a native of Cranston, Rhode Island and a first generation college graduate. His parents immigrated from Portugal thirty years ago in search of a better life for their family. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting in 2009 from Rhode Island College. He spent several years working as an Accounting and Office Manager in the medical field. He brings Accounting expertise and excellent interpersonal skills, and is excited to join the team at College Visions. In his spare time, he enjoys watching Boston sports, playing golf, going to the beach, spending time with family, his girlfriend Allie and their dog Rudy.

ABOUT MONEPHIA

Monephia was born in Jamaica but raised in Providence, RI. She graduated from Classical High School and moved on to attend the University of Rhode Island. There she earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology and minored in Anthropology. During that time, Monephia interned with UCAP, spent a summer as an AmeriCorps VISTA with NWBRV, and remained connected to CV as an alumnus of the program. Currently, her creative expression occupies most of her free time; she draws, paints, and crochets for her brand, Prolific Fruits.

ABOUT SUSAN

Susan was born in The Bucket (Pawtucket, RI) and raised in Providence, RI. A graduate of Classical High School, she transferred from Salem College to CCRI and graduated with a double major in Communications and Community Health & Wellness from Rhode Island College. Susan is a College Visions Alumna (’17) and is thrilled to be a College Success Advisor at CV helping other college students stay on track and earn a college degree. Susan enjoys spending her free time with her daughter Zen, food shopping and making healthy and nutritious meals, and studying the Bible with her sisters.

ABOUT CHARLES

Charles, who also goes by Chuck, was born and raised in Pawtucket, RI. A graduate of Charles E. Shea High School, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Temple University and a Master’s in Urban Education, Leadership, and Practice from Rhode Island College. As a first-generation college graduate, Chuck benefited greatly from college access programs and deeply values their impact on the lives of young people. With over a decade of experience in various roles within college access, his passion lies in helping students navigate their way to and through higher education. Before joining College Visions, he worked as an Academic Advisor and Program Coordinator with the Upward Bound Program. In his free time, Chuck enjoys cycling, reading Dan Brown novels, and traveling.

ABOUT JEORGIA

Jeorgia was born and raised in Pawtucket, R.I. After graduating from Saint Raphael Academy in 2020, she pursued her Bachelor’s degree in English from Stonehill College in 2024. During college, she joined several on-campus organizations where she learned more about diversity, equity, and inclusion and became passionate about advocating for others. She also interned at a non-profit organization which inspired her to serve the youth. Her desire to empower youth and her experience as a first-generation college graduate led her to College Visions, where she hopes to equip students with the tools they need to succeed in their academic careers as a College Access Advisor. She enjoys reading, drawing, playing video games, and spending time with her dog Teddy in her free time.

ABOUT DARWIN

Darwin was born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island. Being the eldest in his family and raised by immigrant parents, he faced a lot of educational hardships that were outside the assistance of those that were closest to him. Even so, he learned to navigate through those roadblocks and realized the need for help in the youth today, who find themselves alone, struggling to determine what comes next for them. He knew that jumping at the opportunity to work for College Visions was his chance to give back and share his experiences with his community. Darwin graduated from Classical High School and pursued a bachelor’s degree in English Literature at Rhode Island College. Outside of CV, he enjoys soccer, reading, and is always down for a cup of coffee at any time of the day!

ABOUT ALEXIS

Alexis grew up in Cranston, RI, where she graduated from Cranston High School East in 2020. Having been raised by immigrant parents, her upbringing as a first-generation American brought forth unique experiences that she later recognized as differing from her peers. In addition to being a first-generation American, Alexis was the first in her family to graduate from college, obtaining her degree in Anthropology from Rhode Island College in 2024. Alexis’s passion for equitable access to education and her experiences as a low-income, first-generation college student brought her to become a College Access Advisor at CV. Through her educational pursuits and her role at CV, Alexis strives to change the status quo in the world of education. In her free time, Alexis loves to rock climb and spend time with her cat, Paisley.

Kafui Glover

ABOUT KAFUI

Kafui is a first generation Ghanaian-American born and raised in Providence, RI. It was during high school that Kafui grew a passion for the arts and advocacy, and how to find the blend between both. Kafui’s persistence to create space and stories for those who shared similar intersecting backgrounds, led her to The University of Rhode Island, where she graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Theatre with a concentration in Acting. After graduating college, Kafui’s passion for advocacy led her to move to Huntington Beach, CA where she spent 7 months serving the Black Voices Movement, traveling to HBCUs and predominantly Black communities, challenging youth and young adults to step into leadership. Whether it’s the arts, education, or both, Kafui wants to continue creating pathways for students, like herself, to reclaim spaces. As a College Success Advisor, she is looking forward to doing just that! She can’t wait to see her students grow into the future leaders of the world! Kafui loves to cook, dance, sing, read, and go to the beach (no matter the season!)

ABOUT JOSHUA

Joshua was born and raised in Pawtucket, RI. He graduated from Providence College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology and a minor in Political Science. He continued his studies at Providence College earning a Master’s in Education through the Providence Alliance for Catholic Teachers (PACT) Program. Throughout his years teaching Theology, Joshua has emitted a passion for teaching and mentoring youth, helping them discover their passions and vocation. Josh is a College Visions Alum (‘16) and is excited to join the team and be a College Access Advisor at CV helping students in their journey to succeed in college! In his spare time, Josh loves the outdoors, the visual and performing arts, and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoys Dad Jokes and Coffee.
