There are a variety of ways you can give your time to make a difference in the life of College Visions students. Our volunteer opportunities are listed below.

Our students depend on friends like you to enter, persist, and ultimately graduate from college. Click the sign-up link below if you are interested in becoming a College Visions volunteer or email volunteers@collegevisions.org with questions about volunteering.

Mock Interviews

Description: Volunteers will serve as mock interviewers for CV Summer Prep students and provide constructive feedback.
Date: Monday, July 22, 2024
Two Session Times: 9:00am - 10:20am and/or 11:30am - 1:00pm
Location: RISD Campus, Providence

Student Portfolio Presentation

Description: Students take 8-10 minutes to present their portfolio and volunteers provide constructive feedback.
Date: Thursday, August 8, 2024
Two Sessions: 9:00am - 10:20am and/or 12:00pm - 1:00pm

EVENT SPECIFIC OPPORTUNITIES

INTERVIEW PREP DAY

Help high school seniors prepare for their college interviews. You will serve as mock interviewer for College Visions 12th graders and provide constructive feedback. It’s a great way to work directly with students and support them on their path to college.

Time Commitment
One-day, 2-4 hours in the fall

Care Package Assembly

Every semester before finals, we send out care packages filled with goodies and study essentials to hundreds of college students. You will help organize supplies and package them for mailing. Join us and wish our students good luck as they prepare to finish the semester strong!

Time Commitment
Once per semester, 2 hours

Application Parties

During application parties, you help students edit college essays, resumes, and applications before they hit the submit button. With your help, students put the final touches on their work, bringing them one step closer to college.

Time Commitment
Multiple one-day sessions in late fall, choose one or choose them all!

Financial Aid Workshops

You will first come in for a two-hour training to learn how to complete the FAFSA and CSS profile. Then, at workshops you will help students and families complete their financial aid applications. With your help, we can maximize student’s financial aid packages, making college an affordable option.

4+ hours from November to January

ONGOING OPPORTUNITIES

ON-CALL VOLUNTEER

Throughout the year, we need general help in our office. Tasks include, but are not limited to, mail packaging, data entry, organizing, etc.

Time Commitment
2-4 hours at a time as needed

1 on 1 Application Help

Come to College Visions 1-2 times a week to provide extra support to students by working with them 1-on-1. You will help students brainstorm essay ideas, revise essays and resumes, and complete applications.

Time Commitment
3-6 hours/week in the afternoon from September–December

Career Planning

Want to talk about your career path? Join us and share your story! Meet with a college student or recent alum to talk about your work and how you got there.

1+ hours

Host a CV party

If you believe in our work and want to spread the word, you can host a party and do just that! Hosts will plan the event and invite guests to learn more about College Visions. The party can happen at your home or another venue. You provide the space, food, and guests. CV will provide promotional materials and staff and students to tell the CV story. It’s a great way to encourage your friends and family to join you as a CV donor and volunteer.
